Values and guidelines
Sustainable management must be guided by ethical principles which are binding upon all employees, managers and executive board members and which are firmly anchored in a company’s organization. MTU attaches special importance to the protection of human rights, compliance with labor laws, fair working conditions and high health and occupational safety standards for its employees, the prevention of corrupt practices and employee qualification.
To make sure these principles are observed throughout the company MTU has adopted a Code of Conduct which must be complied with by all employees. Likewise, the company has introduced a Code of Conduct for suppliers to establish similar standards for the relationships with business partners.
Equally high standards also apply when it comes to compliance. MTU has put a group-wide Compliance Management System in place that successfully prevents corrupt practices and other forms of non-compliant conduct.
The MTU Principles are an integral part of the company’s corporate culture and base on five pillars:
- Products, technology and growth
- Cooperation and conduct
- Staff and management
- Partners, customers and shareholders
- Environment and society
Principles have been defined for each of these five focal areas, which are binding for all employees at all MTU locations worldwide and reflect values such as responsibility, a spirit of open and trustful cooperation, diversity and mutual respect and appreciation.
In addition, MTU has aligned its Corporate Responsibility policy with internationally recognized principles and standards:
- Principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption
- The United Nations‘ Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- UN 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- The core labor standards set up by the International Labor Organization (ILO)
- Standards of the International Organization for Standardization, such as ISO 14001 or ISO 9001
- German Corporate Governance Code
